Job Title: Factory Manager

Location: Colombo
Department: Operations / Production
Reports to: General Manager / Director of Operations

Job Overview:

The Factory Manager will oversee and manage all factory operations to ensure production targets, quality standards, and safety requirements are met. This role involves supervising staff, optimizing processes, monitoring budgets, and ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations. The ideal candidate is a strong leader with expertise in manufacturing operations, resource management, and continuous improvement practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, and oversee daily factory operations to achieve production goals.
  • Manage and supervise factory staff, including training, performance monitoring, and workforce allocation.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Monitor production processes, identify inefficiencies, and implement improvements.
  • Control factory budgets, reduce costs, and optimize resource utilization.
  • Maintain quality control by ensuring adherence to product standards and specifications.
  • Collaborate with supply chain, procurement, and logistics teams to ensure timely availability of raw materials and delivery of finished goods.
  • Prepare production reports and present performance metrics to senior management.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives such as lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and automation.
  • Ensure machinery and equipment are well-maintained to minimize downtime.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field.
  • Proven experience (5–10 years) in a factory or production management role.
  • Strong leadership, team management, and decision-making skills.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality standards, and industry best practices.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems, production planning, and reporting tools.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong understanding of safety, compliance, and labor regulations.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
