Job Title: Assistant Laboratory Technician

Location: Colombo

Job Summary:

The Assistant Laboratory Technician will support laboratory operations by assisting in sample preparation, routine testing, maintaining equipment, and ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards. This role requires accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to follow standard laboratory procedures under supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in preparing, labeling, and processing samples for laboratory analysis.
• Perform routine tests and record results accurately.
• Support senior laboratory staff in experiments and research activities.
• Calibrate, clean, and maintain laboratory equipment regularly.
• Maintain proper records of samples, results, and laboratory activities.
• Ensure compliance with laboratory safety protocols and hygiene standards.
• Assist in inventory management of chemicals, reagents, and consumables.
• Safely dispose of laboratory waste in accordance with regulations.
• Provide administrative and clerical support to the laboratory team when required.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Diploma/Certificate in Medical Laboratory Technology, Science, or a related field.
• Prior experience in a laboratory setting (internship/entry-level experience acceptable).
• Basic knowledge of laboratory equipment and testing procedures.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to follow instructions and maintain confidentiality of test results.
• Computer literacy (MS Office, basic data entry).
