Job Title: Resident Doctor

Location: Colombo, Galle

Reports to: Senior Consultant / Medical Superintendent

Job Overview:

The Resident Doctor will provide continuous medical care, assist senior consultants, and manage patient treatment under supervision. The role involves patient monitoring, diagnosis, emergency response, and ensuring proper documentation of medical records. Resident Doctors play a vital role in ensuring high-quality patient care, supporting clinical procedures, and maintaining smooth hospital operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide round-the-clock medical care to admitted patients.
• Conduct patient assessments, monitor vital signs, and update treatment charts.
• Assist senior consultants and specialists in examinations, procedures, and surgeries.
• Respond to medical emergencies (e.g., Code Blue, trauma cases) promptly and effectively.
• Prescribe medications, order investigations, and interpret diagnostic test results under supervision.
• Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient records, reports, and case histories.
• Coordinate with nursing staff, technicians, and other healthcare professionals for patient care.
• Educate patients and their families regarding treatment plans and post-discharge care.
• Adhere to hospital policies, protocols, and medical ethics.
• Participate in clinical meetings, case discussions, and medical training sessions.

Qualifications & Skills:

• MBBS degree from a recognized medical institution (mandatory).
• Registration with Medical Council [Insert Country/State specifics].
• Prior internship or residency experience in a hospital/clinical setting.
• Strong knowledge of general medicine, emergency care, and hospital protocols.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to handle high-pressure situations with calmness and professionalism.
• Willingness to work in shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
